Sneak peek: build a night
You will be able to: Draw your best guess of one night's sleep stages, then compare it with a typical night.
A preview of Module 3. Before you learn how a night is organised, have a go at drawing one. A guess made before you learn something tends to make the real answer stick better, even when the guess is wrong.
How to play: tap a stage, then tap the half-hour slots of the night where you think it happens (or drag the stage onto a slot). Deeper stages sit lower, so you are drawing a staircase. Then press Compare with a typical night.
- Awake: brief wake-ups in the night are normal.
- Light sleep (N1, N2): the changeover into sleep, then settled light sleep.
- Deep sleep (N3): the deepest stage, hardest to wake from.
- REM sleep: the eyes move quickly and most dreaming happens.
